ONE POT SPAGHETTI
1 pound hamburger
1 large onion, chopped
2 teaspoons chopped garlic
2 14-oz cans sliced stewed tomatoes ( or 1 quart home canned tomatoes)*
1 teaspoon sugar**
1 teaspoon chili powder
8 ounces spaghetti, broken into thirds
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup shredded cheese
Cook hamburger, onion and garlic together in a large pot until done; drain if necessary. Add tomatoes, spices and uncooked spaghetti. Add water if necessary only to cover the tops of noodles. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and cover; simmer about 20 minutes or until spaghetti is done. Remove from heat and simmer uncovered if needed to reduce the water down and thicken the spaghetti. When done remove from heat and sprinkle top with cheese; cover and let melt. Makes approximately 10 cups. The points will be determined by the type of meat and cheese you use.
*if using canned stewed tomatoes run them through the food processor to rough chop them first
**do not use sugar if using store tomatoes because they already have sugar in them
