INSTANT POT OLD FASHIONED OATMEAL
1 1/2 cups old fashioned oatmeal
2 1/2 cups water
pinch of salt
Coat the inside of an oven save bowl or dish that will fit inside your Instant Pot with cooking spray. Then stir together oatmeal, water and salt in that dish. Pour 1 cup of water into the Instant Pot liner and using the trivet that came with the pot lower your bowl of oatmeal into it. Cover, close vent and cook on High for 7 minutes then do a 10 minute natural release. You may also do a quick release if you want to stop cooking the oatmeal sooner. This makes a very soft and creamy oatmeal.
This is called the Pot in Pot (PIP) method. You can use steel cut oats if you like a chewier oatmeal. You could also back off the cooking time a couple minutes if you don't like it as soft and creamy as I do. I do not recommend using quick cooking oatmeal as it will overcook.
