HOW TO COOK BARLEY
Always rinse first.

Stovetop:
1 cup barley
3 cups liquid

Bring to a boil then lower to a simmer and cook 25 - 30 minutes for pearl barley or 40-50 minutes for hulled barley.  Add hot water in small amounts as needed if barley boils dry before it's done. Yields approximately 3 to 3 1/2 cups.
 
Instant Pot:
1 cup barley
2 1/2 cup liquid

Cook on high 23 minutes.  Let do a natural release at least 15 minutes. Yields approximately 3 to 3 1/2 cups. This method made a very moist and plump barley.

Rice Cooker:
Use measurements and settings that are used for brown rice. This method made a dense, dry barley much like cooked brown rice.
