HAMBURGER STEAK & ONION GRAVY
1 pound lean ground beef
Montreal Steak Seasoning, to taste
1 large onion, sliced vertically
House Seasoning, to taste or salt and pepper
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
1 can beef broth
Mix ground beef and Montreal seasoning and form into 4 patties. Heat a large frying pan and add a little
bit of oil. Brown hamburger patties on both sides, remove to a plate and set aside. In the same pan add
a little bit more oil if needed and add onions. Season with House Seasoning or salt and pepper. Cook
until slightly browned and tender. Sprinkle with flour and stir until it is mixed in with the onions well and
stir just a few minutes or until the flour starts to brown on the bottom of the pan, but not burn. You want
to cook out the raw taste of the flour. Slowly pour in beef broth, scraping up the browned bits from the
bottom of the pan. Once all the brown bits are up pour in the remaining broth. Return the beef patties
to the pan. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until patties are done and gravy has started to thicken. Turn
patties over a couple times while cooking. You can remove the lid and let cook until the gravy has
thickened to your liking.
